This makes good summer meal. I really don't like turning on the oven in the summer. You can simmer the sauce with left over shredded roast beef, chicken, pork, or use it with ground beef for sloppy Joe's. This makes enough for about 6 sandwiches. We made this last night with a can of beef from our food storage and it turned out great. We made a macaroni salad to go with and some steamed veggies. This is my adapted version of a Betty Crocker recipe:
1 lb shredded or thinly sliced roast beef
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup ketchup
3 Tbsp white vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground mustard
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 clove garlic chopped, or garlic powder to taste
6 hamburger buns
Heat all ingredients to boiling in a sauce pan over medium high heat. Reduce heat and cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.
